My chickens are an 'all weather' breed. But they hate the sun!
Here is Coq Au hunkered down in the shade by the porch with his favorite part of his harem. When I emerge through the front door, he clucks at me with his aggressive, challenge sounds, but he is too damn comfortable to get up and bother right now.
Hortense, on the other hand, likes to be alone during the moments when the flock is outside. She isn't picked on or chased away, she just relishes her 'me' time.
